Wayne Sperling & Lorinda Bailey

Wayne Sperling and Lorinda Bailey

Crimes: Child Abuse, Neglect

The children of Wayne Sperling and Lorinda Bailey of Denver, Colorado, would have been better off if they’d been raised by neanderthals. I’m serious. Prehistoric cave-dwellers would have done a helluva lot better job caring for the 4 little boys than these two f*cktardian losers. The boys would have been well fed, cared for, loved and nurtured. As it was, with Wayne Sperling and Lorinda Bailey as parents, those poor children experienced none of those things.

In September 2013, the 2-year-old son of these monstrous parents cut his forehead. Lorinda Bailey actually did the right thing and took him to St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital on September 29, 2013. That one good act created an avalanche of official activity.

The emergency room doctor who tended the little guy couldn’t help but notice that the toddler was non-verbal, dirty, and reeked of cigarette smoke. There was bruising behind the little guy’s ear that looked consistent with pinching.

The doctor contacted authorities, and that prompted a welfare check by a Denver Human Services caseworker and police officer. What they found was disgusting and heartrending. Besides the 2-year-old, there were 3 other boys aged 4, 5 and 6 living in the home on 18th Avenue. They were all roughly the same size, wearing diapers, unwashed, malnourished and non-verbal. The only communication the boys could make was grunting and pointing.

The house itself was in a disgusting state. It was covered in feces and urine. There was trash and rotten food scattered all over. Flies swarmed everywhere. The feces under the boys’ beds was over an inch deep. And the smell! OMG, it must have been unbearable.

The police took the kids into protective custody right away. Heartbreakingly, when given sandwiches and apples to eat, those little boys acted like they’d never seen such things before. They patted the sandwiches and played with the apples. When encouraged to eat the apples, they licked them instead.

With the kids taken away, police interviewed Lorinda Bailey. She had told the emergency room doctor that her 2-year-old had hurt his head when a sibling threw a toy at him. She now told the police he’d fallen off the toilet. Riiiight. As if any of those boys had ever been put on the toilet!

Lorinda Bailey said that Wayne Sperling was in charge of the kids. He was unemployed and had full time care of the boys. She said she lived in a separate apartment but she saw the boys on weekdays. Hmmm, I wonder if that claim was ever investigated. Did she really live separately? How could those two losers afford two apartments?

Lorinda Bailey also told the police she didn’t think the state of the home was all that bad. She said she’d seen Wayne Sperling mop and clean the floors. Riiiight. And when was that? Back in 2005?

Police next interviewed Wayne Sperling. He told them that the poop on the floor was all from cats — it may look like people poop but no, it was from cats. What cats?

Wayne Sperling told the police that the boys spoke a language of their own that he and their mother could understand. Yup, those grunts were their own language, and the proud papa talked about it like it was a normal thing.

The Denver DA’s office charged Wayne Sperling and Lorinda Bailey with 4 counts each of child abuse. That’s it? Yup, because apparently the state’s child abuse laws kept prosecutors from pursuing harsher penalties because the children did not suffer serious physical injuries.

They did not suffer serious physical injuries? They have breathing problems still and are sensitive to light. They have to wear special glasses for that. They still aren’t toilet trained, and they hoard their snacks in case they’re never fed again. They are developmentally and linguistically delayed. IMO that’s serious harm!

Incredibly, all charges but one were dropped in exchange for guilty pleas. Yup, these two revolting creatures were allowed to plead guilty to just one count of felony child abuse. WTF? Was that really the best that Colorado justice could do?

In August 2014, Lorinda Bailey, 36, pled guilty and in November 2014 was sentenced to 90 days in jail plus 5 years of probation. Wow. That’s it? Yup. This woman, who left her children in an apartment full of shit, who didn’t worry that they weren’t fed properly or washed properly, who didn’t give a goddamn that none of them could even speak or use the toilet, got 3 months in jail! Pitiful!

Lorinda Baily could have gotten 7 years in prison. IMO that is a lot closer to justice than that piddly-ass 90 days! Way to go, Colorado justice!

Wayne Sperling, 67, pled guilty and in December 2014 he was sentenced to 5 years in prison. That’s a bit more like it, but I don’t understand why he didn’t get the 7 years maximum.

“They just weren’t equipped to be parents,” said his defense attorney. That’s a defense?

Lorinda BaileyActually, looking at the mouth on Lorinda Bailey, she’s not even equipped to take care of herself, much less helpless children.

The 4 boys are together in a foster home. I wish them all the love, support and therapy they need so they can live as normal a life as possible.

Tragically, this story gets even more disgusting. It turns out that the child welfare authorities KNEW about the situation back in 2012. That’s right! There was a report of children hanging from an upstairs window. Caseworkers and police officers visited the home, saw that the boys slept on pee-soaked beds without sheets, and concluded everything was fine. Never mind the clutter and filth. Never mind the boys couldn’t talk. Those boys were left in that revolting mess for months longer than they should have been.

Also in 2012, a lawyer who worked across the street from the home called the authorities when he saw the children inadequately clothed. His call was ignored. Way to go, Denver Human Services!

And the story gets even worse. It turns out that those 4 boys aren’t the only children produced by Wayne Sperling and Lorinda Bailey. The hellbeastly pair had 3 more that were taken from them!

In October 2006, passers-by spotted two of the children playing in the street. The kids couldn’t talk — they could only grunt and point. And they were filthy.

Those passers-by contacted authorities, and police found the home full of garbage, bugs and rotting food. *shock* The children were wearing unwashed, smelly clothing, and their faces were black with dirt. They were also hungry.

The 3 children were removed from the home and put into protective care. In June 2007, Wayne Sperling and Lorinda Bailey pled guilty to a single misdemeanor count of child abuse. They were placed on probation for 2 years, and ordered to take parenting classes. Ooooh, harsh! And nobody knows if they ever took those classes. I’m guessing they didn’t.

The cracks in the Denver Human Services system were apparently large enough to swallow up whole families. And the pitiful sentencing handed out by the Denver courts did little to stop the perpetuation of these horrific situations.

It’s appalling that there was no follow-up with Wayne Sperling and Lorinda Bailey after their first round with the courts in 2007. They kept popping out babies (damn their fertility!) and neglecting them to the extent that those children likely will never live normal lives.

I wish I could grant these two f*cktards infertility. I don’t care if they choose to live in squalor themselves, but no more children should be made to suffer. I hope that anyone who knows Lorinda Bailey will watch out for any future children she may produce. I wouldn’t even trust her with the care of a mealworm.

I wish I could grant the Denver County Department of Human Services enough money and resources so that their caseworkers would never again be so overworked or under-trained that they can ignore such horrific cases of child abuse. The people who left those boys in the squalor back in 2012 should be fired or held accountable.

I wish I could shake some sense into the judges who gave Wayne Sperling and Lorinda Bailey such lenient sentences. Probation for neglecting the first 3 children didn’t teach those f*cktard parents one single thing. I doubt the 3 months in prison will smarten Lorinda Bailey up either.

I do wish all the best to the children of these two hellbeasts, and to the foster families who have the job of repairing the damage done to them. They all have a long road ahead of them, no doubt. They deserve all the help and support they can get.

Not equipped to be parents? Tragically they are equipped – to reproduce. Why can’t the courts enforce sterilization on these beasts? They don’t deserve any more kids. Hell they didn’t deserve the kids they had.

If as a society we can’t prioritize making sure there is room for people like this in prison I shudder to think what society will be like a century from now.

Fuck me just look at those nasher’s, they’re like tombstones. You wouldn’t need a can opener to open tins while she’s around, just use her teeth instead. If being ugly was a crime, she’d be serving life no parole, i’m gonna have nightmares now of nosfaratu. Thank the lord that those children have been saved, albeit a bit late but at least now those boys can get the help they need, bless their little hearts.
