Sarah Cullen
Crimes: Child Abuse, Murder

I really have to wonder why the hell anyone who disliked children would become a daycare worker or a nanny? Sarah Cullen of Omaha, Nebraska might have the answer. She worked in daycares and as a nanny and she disliked — even hated — children. She must have done because she repeatedly hurt the little ones she was in charge of.

When Ashley and Christopher Bell hired Sarah Cullen as a nanny for their darling baby, Cash, they didn’t know that she’d been fired from her previous daycare job for being much too rough with children. She’d allegedly split a toddler’s lip when she shoved his shoe in his mouth, and she reportedly jerked little children by their arms and pushed them against the wall on a daily basis.

The daycare didn’t consider Sarah Cullen’s actions severe enough to contact police. They just fired her nasty ass.

It’s a crying shame Ashley and Christopher Bell didn’t know all this, because I can guarantee you they would never, ever have put their precious baby in Sarah Cullen’s hands.

The Bells hired Sarah Cullen in January 2013. She was a mother with a 7-year-old, and she was expecting her own baby. The background check showed nothing for them to worry about.

Sarah Cullen seemed to be good with Cash. There were occasionally some minor booboos on Cash’s face and head, but the nanny always had an explanation. The Bells trusted her.

On February 28, 2013, Christopher and Ashley Bell headed to work as usual, leaving their beautiful, healthy, happy baby boy with Sarah Cullen.

Cash BellChristopher Bell returned home unexpectedly at 9:15 a.m. because he’d left his checkbook behind. He saw baby Cash lying face down in their Pack-N-Play. The poor little guy was breathing hard so Christopher Bell rolled him over onto his back. He didn’t pick Cash up because he didn’t want to wake him.

Sarah Cullen didn’t say anything at all to Christopher Bell about what had happened to Cash — what she’d done to Cash, to be precise. The stupid, evil bitch let him think his son was merely sleeping.

By that time Cash was likely blind and deaf.

As Christopher Bell was leaving, Sarah Cullen scooped up the infant and watched as the father drove away.

Maybe then she finally figured out she was holding a dying baby because, in a panic, she called her boyfriend. Not 911, mind you, like a decent human being would do. She called her boyfriend. She did not tell him what she’d done to baby Cash. She only said the baby wasn’t breathing.

After Sarah Cullen hung up the phone she frantically began CPR. When her boyfriend arrived he called 911. He then immediately rushed his pregnant girlfriend and Cash to the emergency room. The situation was dire, and Cash was flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital & Medical Center.

Cash Bell clung onto life for another 5 days. When doctors told Ashley and Christopher Bell that their baby had suffered severe skull fractures and irreparable brain damage, they had to make the decision to take their precious child off of life support.

I cannot imagine the anguish and the heartbreak the Bells went through. Cash Bell should not have been dead! He was only 4 months old! He should have been growing and thriving and enjoying his life.

So what happened to baby Cash? The Bells wanted to know, and definitely the police wanted to know.

Sarah Cullen had many different stories to explain the baby’s fatal injuries. First she said that maybe Cash had hit his head when she took him to say goodbye to his daddy. Then she said he fell from his baby swing. Riiiight.

Finally she said that at 8:00 a.m. (over an hour before Christopher Bell came home) she’d tripped on the stairs and dropped the baby on the tile floor. That’s the story Sarah Cullen ultimately stuck with.

And according to the nanny from hell, Cash didn’t even look hurt. He was lying on the floor with clenched fists so she picked him up, held him and he fell asleep. It wasn’t until later that she figured out something was wrong with him.

Sarah CullenSarah Cullen was arrested and charged with child abuse resulting in death.

When she went to trial in March 2014, her defense attorney insisted that everything that happened to Cash was an accident. And then her defense attorney had the audacity to suggest Christopher Bell hurt his boy when he turned him over! What a scummy thing to say!

The prosecutors maintained that Sarah Cullen’s multiple versions of events showed she wasn’t credible at all. They also pointed out her failure to act immediately to save the baby. If it was an accidental fall, why didn’t she call 911? Why didn’t she tell Christopher Bell when he came home?

The jury didn’t believe it was an accident. They believed Cash was shaken and beaten to death by the defendant.

The jury found Sarah Cullen, 25, guilty of intentional child abuse resulting in death.

After the verdict 4 members of the jury requested that they be allowed to speak to Christopher and Ashley Bell. The judge allowed it, and the jurors and the Bells met, talked and hugged.

At sentencing Sarah Cullen addressed the grieving parents and the court. “If there’s anything I could do to take the pain away and bring it on myself I would,” she said. “I’m so sorry I’ll never forgive myself and never expect anyone else to either.”

Ashley Bell addressed the court as well. “We held our baby as he died in our arms. She’s completely heartless,” the grieving mother said. She then asked the judge to sentence Cash’s murderer to prison for life.

On May 13, 2014, Sarah the baby killer Cullen was sentenced to 70 years to life in prison. She was given 413 days credit for time served. She will be eligible for parole after 35 years.

Prosecutors were content with the outcome. “She’s responsible. She’s been held responsible, and now she’s going to have to pay that penalty by the time she’s going to have to do,” said attorney Don Kleine.

I hope and pray the children of Sarah Cullen are in a caring, supportive home surrounded by people who love them. That’s what all children deserve.

RIP baby Cash Bell. I extend my sincerest condolences to those who mourn his loss.

My sympathy to the Bell family. Cullen is exactly were she belongs.

This is a mother’s worst nightmare. Obviously doing a background check isn’t enough any more. Every parent should install a nanny cam from day 1, and phone up the previous employers, not just references. RIP baby Cash.

Also bare in mind that if the nursery where that bitch used to work alerted the authorities for the abuse against those little ones, then cash parents would’ve known what a scummy baby beater she was, and little cash would still be here. I hope she rots in hell, beast she is.

I hope she loses all contact with her children. The Bells will never see their baby again so it’s only fair she never sees her kids again. Rotten bitch.

What a horrible woman! The daycare center should be held accountable as well – if they were licensed by the state then they’re required to notify the sheriff’s department when somebody is fired for abuse.

i wish that punishment should be equal to the crime eg: shaken too death and beaten in the skull..
