Marquis Cheatham & Dominique Atkinson

Crime: Murder

I feel bad for Ashley McCarthy. Life just wasn’t turning out the way she thought it would. The lovely young woman had married her childhood sweetheart, Marquis Cheatham, on December 2, 2011. They’d eloped. That was the worst mistake of her life.

Marquis Cheatham, a lance corporal stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Ashley McCarthy, instead of following her husband, lived with her father in Montgomery, Alabama. I’m guessing married life wasn’t agreeing with her. Maybe she’d found out she was married to a hellbeast.

Marquis Cheatham was earning $43,000 a year as a lance corporal — not a fortune by any means. The problem was he wasn’t sharing any of it with his wife. Ashley McCarthy was forced to contact her husband’s commanders at Camp Lejeune because she wasn’t receiving the benefits she should have been. Her calls resulted in Marquis Cheatham being disciplined for his bad behavior.

Unfortunately for Ashley McCarthy, her hubby didn’t appreciate being called on the carpet by his superiors — it was messing with his career. The situation pissed him off royally, and made him want her out of his life for good.

Poor Ashley McCarthy had already been replaced in her husband’s affections, making her eminently disposable. She didn’t know it but Marquis Cheatham had got himself a mistress, Dominique Atkinson. The woman was nowhere near as attractive as Ashley McCarthy, but she was as beastly as Marquis Cheatham. She was a bona fide hellbitch.

In addition to being a detriment in her husband’s career, Ashley McCarthy had a life insurance policy. That made her death downright desirable to both her shitstain of a husband and his roadturdian mistress.

Marquis Cheatham decided that April 1, 2013 (less than a year and a half after the wedding) was the time for his beautiful wife to die. It was Easter weekend. He and Dominique Atkinson drove 9 hours from North Carolina to Montgomery to do the job. The evil bitch girlfriend was dropped off at his mother’s house, and Marquis Cheatham made his way out to the airport where he’d arranged to meet Ashley McCarthy. She thought he was flying in to town to discuss their marital issues.

I wonder if the poor woman had any inkling, any gut feeling that she was in danger while they ate at a Waffle House. It wasn’t a happy meal. They argued as they left the restaurant. In the car Marquis Cheatham pulled a gun on Ashley McCarthy. How absolutely terrifying it must’ve been for her to see the hellbeast unmasked.

They drove to his mother’s house where Dominique Atkinson was waiting for them. The two heartless killers forced Ashley McCarthy into the trunk of his car. The poor woman must’ve known full well what was awaiting her. She wasn’t about to give up without a fight.

Marquis Cheatham drove his wife’s car and Dominique Atkinson followed in his car with the victim in the trunk. They wound up on Lower Wetumpka Road where Ashley McCarthy’s car was hidden in a shed. I’m thinking that Marquis Cheatham had everything all plotted out since he knew a good place to hide the car.

But the plot went awry when, as the killers set off for the chosen murder site, Ashley McCarthy managed to pop open the trunk and try to escape. Alas, she didn’t make it. She ran, begging for her life, with her murderous husband in hot pursuit. He shot her twice in the back, but she didn’t stop.

Ashley McCarthy made it onto the porch of a nearby home. Marquis Cheatham caught up with her, placed the gun against her head and shot her dead. The worthless asswipe left his wife’s body exactly where she died — a step away from possible rescue.

Minutes later, at 7:00 a.m. Ashley McCarthy’s body was discovered by the homeowner.

The killers had returned to his mother’s house to pick up clothes. They stopped in Georgia to clean the car, and then drove back to Camp Lejeune. I wonder if those two f*ckturds thought at that time they’d get away with their heinous crime.

It took 3 days for authorities to identify Ashley McCarthy — that’s when her father reported her missing.

It didn’t take long for investigators to link the killing to Marquis Cheatham. The victim had told her father she was picking him up at the airport. Duh.

Actually, I don’t know how the hellbeasts ever thought they’d get away with the murder. It’s not like nobody knew of the victim’s marital problems. The affair between Marquis Cheatham and Dominique Atkinson wasn’t much of a secret. They had no alibi, and the life insurance was plenty of motive. And I’m guessing the murder weapon was registered to Marquis Cheatham.

Within days of the murder, Marquis Cheatham and Dominique Atkinson were arrested by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office. They were charged with capital murder during robbery, and extradited to Montgomery.

On March 10, 2016, Marquis Cheatham, 26, pled guilty to murder. On March 28, 2016, Dominique Atkinson, 24, likewise pled guilty. They both received life sentences.

I truly hope that the hellbeastly killers never see the light of day again. Out of sheer spite, selfishness and greed, they deprived a wonderful woman of her life. And there is no question that Ashley McCarthy was a wonderful woman. She volunteered at local nursing homes and even traveled around to other states to help feed the homeless. She deserved to live a long, happy life. Her heartless killers don’t.

RIP, Ashley McCarthy. I extend my condolences to her family and friends, and hope that seeing justice done will bring them some solace.

I wonder if cheatham was suffering with mental problems? The reason i say this is because, what the fuck was he having am affair with? Poor ashley was replaced by chewbaca. People like this puzzle me, they commit murder over the stupidist things and always end up getting caught and sent to prison for life where no one is a winner, when in the real world if he was so pissed of with ashley, why didn’t he do what most people do, and that is get a divorce, that way everyone wins and nobody has to die or end up in jail. Now Ashley is dead and Cheatham and chewy are banged away for life. Ashley seemed like a lovely woman and didn’t deserve what happened to her, the pigs that murdered her shoul’ve been given the death sentence imo but we don’t always get what we want.

BP, I wonder that same thing when I hear about someone murdering their spouse for money or because they want to be with someone else. These people apparently have never heard of this thing called “divorce!” I don’t know what goes through a person’s mind when they decide to kill their spouse…or anyone, for that matter! And yes, they deserve the death penalty! It seems like the death penalty doesn’t scare people anymore. Texas executes a LOT of people, but people still commit murder in that state. It seems that the thought of being executed doesn’t even faze them! People like these 2 turds, they don’t deserve the air they breathe. Ashley seemed like a good person and I am just glad that there were no children involved. I dont think they would’ve cared even if there were children involved! I hope they are miserable every day they are in prison!

He had no mental issues trust me….

All because he didn’t want to give up some money. At least there doesn’t seem to be kids involved.

    Murder is Still Murder

” British ” Justice would of Resulted in Even Less of a Sentence

    • Bengalpuss says:

Dpo, if it was british justice then these two idiots wouldn’t even see the inside of a jail cell. They would’ve had to promise not to be bad again and then let off with a warning. Seriously arguin would be like heaven to a serial killer because he could get away with impunity, sickening it is.

Jeni C, i can never understand that the killer/killers think they are going to get away with murdering their spouse. The first person that the cops look at is the deceased victims husband, wife or partner, so in my mind these two murderers are thick as pig shit. Like i said before that it would’ve been easy getting a divorce, 1) he would be free to date anybody 2)would not be sat in jail for the rest of his life 3)wouldn’t have to pay child support with no children 4) nobody has to die and 5) wouldn’t be featured as an article on hellbeasts.

    • Jeni C says:

Bengalpuss, maybe they wanted to be featured on this website! And I agree with you, there were many options instead of murder. They had no children, so he didn’t have to worry about child support, and I doubt he would’ve had to pay spousal support. They could divorce amicably, and them went their separate ways. Him and his mistress were just plain STUPID. Well, at least they are famous now…well, INfamous!

There are plenty of men that will bang women that are hideous while they have a beautiful wife at home. Many of them don’t have mental issues. What Marquis had was called greed, plain and simple

I was in the county jail on a drug possession charge while Dominique was awaiting trial, and let me tell you, she was not the least bit remorseful. She laughed and bragged about killing that poor woman, yet would turn around and cry for herself. She also had several children by other men, which maybe it’s a good thing she is out of their lives forever. Its just a disgusting situation all around.if their is any consolation to be had, Julia Tutweiler Prison for Women is a hell on earth that she won’t ever leave.
