Henry Chau Hoi-leung

Crimes: Murder, Dismemberment

Henry Chau Hoi-leung, of Hong Kong, was mad at his folks. I mean really mad. Murderously mad. I think it’s because they had spoiled him rotten. His mother, Siu Yuet-yee, and his father, Chau Wing-ki, gave him everything he could want for 30 years. They supported his lavish lifestyle, and in return only wanted their boy to succeed in life. Unfortunately, Henry Chau Hoi-leung wasn’t so good at succeeding. He was and is a loser.

After 30 years of doting on their son, Siu Yuet-yee and Chau Wing-ki decided to cut the apron strings/purse strings, and let their boy grow up and support himself. Yup, they told Henry Chau Hoi-leung to get a job!

There was, of course, a problem. Although the parents loved their son very, very much, their son didn’t love them. In fact, he blamed them for everything that was wrong with his life. The only thing he wanted from his parents was their continued financial support. Without the money they supplied, Henry Chau Hoi-leung had no use whatsoever for his parents. He detested them.

Amazingly, Henry Chau Hoi-leung had a friend who is also a loser: Angus Tse Chun-kei. For months the two talked and talked about how unfair and unreasonable Siu Yuet-yee and Chau Wing-ki were being, wanting their 30-year-old son to work for a living. The ungrateful son complained how his mother forced him to learn to play the piano and how his dad wouldn’t turn down the TV while he was trying to study. How monstrous of them!

The talking/whining soon turned to plotting, and murder became the agenda. Over the course of 3 months the evil pair made preparations to kill Siu Yuet-yee and Chau Wing-ki.

I really, really have to wonder what the f*ck was wrong with Angus Tse Chun-kei. He had absolutely no beef with Siu Yuet-yee and Chau Wing-ki, so why the hell did he participate in this unarguably evil scheme? Is he so completely lacking in morals and a soul that he felt no compassion for the intended targets? That he felt no need to warn them? That he felt no need to turn his murderous buddy in to authorities? There is something fundamentally wrong with Angus Tse Chun-kei.

No doubt using the money given to him by his parents, Henry Chau Hoi-leung spent between HK$30,000 to HK$40,000 to purchase the tools and equipment he and his buddy would need to carry out the horrific crime. They bought refrigerators, microwave ovens, a rice cooker, knives, hammers and bleach, among assorted other items.

When everything was in place for the slaughter that was to come, Henry Chau Hoi-leung invited his estranged parents to have lunch at his new apartment in the Hoi Hing Building in Tai Kok Tsui. The elderly couple actually thought their much-loved son was extending an olive branch, and gladly accepted the invitation for March 1, 2013.

The Tai Kok Tsui apartment was, if I understand correctly, actually rented by Angus Tse Chun-kei. It was kitted out to become an abattoir.

victimsWhen Siu Yuet-yee, 62, and Chau Wing-ki, 65, entered the apartment they were immediately attacked with knives. They were stabbed to death, with wounds to the chest and neck.

After the horrific, brutal crime, the evil pair had to dispose of the bodies. They had spent a lot of time discussing it beforehand, and even contemplated mixing them with cement and turning them into bricks. What they eventually decided upon was cooking the bodies. With rice. Ewwwww!

It’s hard enough to dispose of one body, but these guys had two bodies to get rid of. I’m sure it was a lot of work, and took a lot of time. Angus Tse Chun-kei had prepared for that by purchasing a whole lot of air fresheners — so nobody would complain of the stench of decomposition.

Of course the disappearance of Siu Yuet-yee and Chau Wing-ki was noticed. Henry Chau Hoi-leung’s elder brother was concerned about the parents, but was fobbed off for a bit when he was told they were visiting mainland China.

Apparently, Henry Chau Hoi-leung considered killing his brother too, but mercifully changed his mind.

Six days after the slaughter, authorities were notified of the couple’s disappearance. Henry Chau Hoi-leung and his brother held a media interview to seek help and information from the public.

What is bizarre, though, is that while reporting the disappearance of his parents to the police, Henry Chau Hoi-leung sent text messages to friends admitting he’d killed them. Why the hell would he do that?

Those friends, unlike Angus Tse Chun-kei, did the right thing — they contacted the police. When police entered the 500 square foot apartment, the evidence of the slaughter was everywhere. I really, really pity the police officers who had to deal with that scene.

The floor had been cleaned, but there were bloodstains on the living room wall. There was a plastic box full of remains, including a human hand. And then the police opened the refrigerators. OMFG, I can’t imagine how they dealt with what they saw: two unwrapped human heads in the freezers.

“The heads were placed neatly on towels with their eyes not fully closed,” said forensic officer Mak Chun-hung.

In the fridges there were lunch boxes and plastic bags with small chunks of people parts including the sexual organs.

There were plastic boxes with bigger chunks of people parts that had been boiled and salted. Police found lunchboxes with cooked people and rice in a rubbish bin. Two refrigerators hadn’t been big enough to contain two bodies after all.

Police discovered murder notes, a shopping list and receipts under Angus Tse Chun-kei’s mattress.

Tse Chun-kei arrest

Tse Chun-kei arrest

On March 15, 2013, police arrested the evil pair.

Angus Tse Chun-kei denied having had any part in the planning or the murders. He claimed that Henry Chau Hoi-leung had shown him a box of human remains and threatened to hurt his mother if he didn’t help with the disposal of the bodies.

OK, here are my problems with that story. First, a normal person, presented with body parts and threats toward his mother, would make haste to contact authorities or at least get his mother to safety. Second, the murders happened in his apartment. Third, the notes, shopping list and receipts were under his mattress. Fourth, he bought the extra fridge, air freshener, knives, microwaves and so on before the murder, with cash given to him by Henry Chau Hoi-leung. Fifth, he accepted HK$5000 cash from his murderous pal after the murder.

How are any of those things proof of ignorance or innocence? IMO, Angus Tse Chun-kei was a big part of the planning and the murders.

Henry Chau Hoi-leung, of course, initially said Angus Tse Chun-kei committed the murders, and all he did was dispose of the bodies. His story changed during 3 recorded police interviews.

Henry Chau Hoi-leung said he attacked his father while his pal attacked his mother. He said he tried to pierce his father’s neck with a steak knife.

“My father resisted and called out for help,” he said.

Henry Chau Hoi-leung said his pal slashed open his mother’s neck with a knife and, when she dropped, he came to help him kill his father.

Henry Chau Hoi-leung oddly admitted to the killing, but insisted he wasn’t there for the dismemberment and disposal. He attributed that work to Angus Tse Chun-kei. Apparently the chopping, cooking, etc. was done to the continuously replayed piano piece, Alexander Scriabin’s ” Vers la Flamme”.

A pathologist tried to piece the skeletons back together, but there were still some bits missing. This raised the possibility that those were eaten. Ewwwww. Cannibalism!

It was difficult getting this pair to justice. The first trial came to an abrupt end on August 14, 2014, after 2 jurors were dismissed because they couldn’t cope with the psychological stress. High Court Deputy Judge Michael Stuart-Moore exempted the entire jury from jury duty for life.

Finally, this year, Henry Chau Hoi-leung and Angus Tse Chun-kei got their day in court. Both defendants had previously pled guilty to 2 counts of preventing the lawful burials. Henry Chau Hoi-leung tried to plead guilty to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility, but that didn’t work out for him.

The 9-member jury found Chau guilty of murder by an 8-to-1 majority, but unanimously cleared Angus Tse Chun-kei of the murder charges. To which I say, WTF?

Angus Tse Chun-kei was given a piddly one-year jail term for the unlawful burial charges but was released from custody due to time he had already served.

“Henry Chau is kind to you, generous to you … but he is just using you,” the judge told Angus Tse Chun-kei. Wait a minute — according to old Angus here, his pal had threatened to hurt his mom! How is that kind and generous? Oh, maybe the judge was thinking of the HK$5000 Henry kindly and generously gave him after the murders.

Mr. Justice Michael Stuart-Moore described Angus Tse Chun-kei as “naive and vulnerable … being bullied and used by people all your life”.

Am I missing something here? Is Angus Tse Chun-kei mentally deficient? Does he have brain damage? Maybe that’s why the jury and judge were so generous toward him.

Henry Chau Hoi-leung didn’t receive any kind words from the judge. He was “narcissistic”, “an extremely dangerous man” and “an actor” who would lie to anybody, according to Mr. Justice Michael Stuart-Moore. “Henry Chau is always blaming anyone but himself. He is a complete failure in life and soul.”

The judge went on to say, “People may wonder why you did his. The fact is there is no obvious answer is what makes you so dangerous. You always blame your faults on others not yourself. Your parents became the victims of your blame.”

Henry Chau Hoi-leung was sentenced to life for the murders, and an additional 9 years 4 months for the charges of preventing the lawful burials of his parents.

I guess the lavish lifestyle this evil hellbeast enjoyed at his parents’ expense is well and truly over. Thank goodness Henry Chau Hoi-leung decided to text his friends about his crimes, getting himself locked up for good. I wish upon the selfish, narcissistic bastard daily suffering.

I don’t know what to say about Angus Tse Chun-kei. He was found not guilty of murder, but I feel in my bones that he was an active participant from day one when the plotting began. Unless there was something missing from all of the articles I read, I find little reason to believe he was not an active participant in murder.

RIP, Siu Yuet-yee and Chau Wing-ki. I extend my condolences to those who loved and miss them.

It must not have been reported in the English press, but Angus Tse Chun-kei apparently tried to commit suicide some time before the murders took place. Apparently the carbon monoxide poison left him brain damaged and impressionable. Personally, I don’t think it excuses his actions but the court disagrees.

  2. 2cute says:

Hey, who was the idiot on the jury who voted not guilty for Henry? How on earth could anyone look at that evidence and conclude neither were guilty?

Awww cleo, hope your pup is going to be ok? I’ll get my two to keep their paws crossed for your baby, my cats are my babies, they can’t fucking do evil things to you unless them dumping in the bath constitutes evil? Lol. As for this murdering fucker he has got to be one of the most evil self centered bastard i’ve read about. Because he couldn’t live his free loading life any longer he killed his parents who had basically loved him and given him what he wanted, only to end up being horrifically murdered, evil cunt. As for his friend, what the fuck were those jurors thinking? Very sad that he hasn’t been dealt with like the other worthless cunt. Rot in hell hellbeasts.

Makes me laugh when the vet says “keep your pet quiet and don’t let them exert themselves” lol my kittens at this very moment are playing with one of my ear plugs, like you can keep them like the vet asks? Glad your pup is ok as they are our babies, plus they don’t argue or cause headache, just the way i like it.

Angus Tse Chun-kei is guilty for his actions, he assisted in the murder. This man will commit a sick crime again… it will only be a matter of time.
No matter how terrible life is, we all have choices. We all have our own hardships in life, some worse than others. Thank God that many of us choose higher roads and make better decisions to live a better life for ourselves – NOT choosing to kill others.
In his ‘after life’, he will be properly judged.
