Helen & Andre Ford
Crimes: Child Abuse, Murder.
Eight-year-old Gizzell Davis was a beautiful girl who loved her friends and teachers, and enjoyed jumping rope and writing in her diary. It was a pretty diary, striped with rainbows. Gizzell wrote in it with a pink marker. That diary should have been filled with happy thoughts of a happy child. It wasn’t.
Gizzell’s mother lost custody in 2013 because she couldn’t provide a home for her daughter. They were found wandering the streets in the middle of the night, and a judge decided the girl should live with her father, Andre Ford, of Austin, Illinois, USA.
Actually, Andre Ford wasn’t in any shape to take care of a young girl. He had scleroderma — a condition whereby the skin and other body tissues harden. He was unable to walk, much less be a good father. Unfortunately, it wasn’t just the disease that stopped him from being a good father. His complete lack of humanity, heart and soul made him a hellbeast.
Andre Ford lived with his mother, Helen Ford, in a disgustingly filthy, trash-filled, West Side apartment. Admittedly the 50ish-year-old woman had her hands full taking care of her bedridden son and 2 other children in the home, but that’s no excuse for the depravity and sadism she meted out to little Gizzell.
I don’t know why there was any problem with the girl. She was a straight-A student. She loved her teachers. She loved school and playing. She had so much love to give to her half-siblings, father and grandmother. She was full of spirit and confidence.
“I am going to be a beautiful smart and good young lady,” Gizzell wrote in her diary. “I can do anything I put my smart mind to. People say I’m smart and courageous and beautiful.”
She added that she was “healthy, strong and vital”. Bless her heart.
Unfortunately, living with her hellbeastly father and grandmother changed all that. They punished her horribly for the smallest things, and made her believe she deserved it, that it was all her fault.
The punishments were horrific. The girl was tied to a bed for several days. She was denied food and water. When Gizzell was desperate enough to try to sneak a sip from the toilet, she was punished even more.
The girl became covered in bruises and lacerations. She had an untreated head wound that had maggots living in it. She had puncture wounds to her chest and back. She had ligature marks on her wrists and ankles. Clumps of her hair were torn out of her scalp.
Andre Ford, that disgusting POS, didn’t raise a hand to his daughter. He couldn’t. But what he did do was direct his mother in how to punish Gizzell. He was the bastard to order the girl to stand for 4 days straight, tied to a pole beside his bed. And when Gizzell peed herself because she was denied permission to use the bathroom, the sadistic f*ckturd actually ordered his mother to hold her down and make her suck the urine out of the carpet. Helen Ford happily went along with the torture. Sick bitch!
All of this hellish existence was written about in the pretty journal. Gizzell also wrote about how she’d been forced to squat for hours, and stand in one place for hours. Torture, nothing less than torture.
Gizzell also wrote about how she wanted school to start again so she could get out of the house. But first she had to survive the summer.
“I hope that I don’t mess up today because I really want to be able to just sit down, watch T.V., talk and play with everybody,” Gizzell wrote in her diary. “I am going to be great all day.” I’m sure she tried her damnedest.
That poor child believed that it was in her power to not “mess up”, not realizing that the stupid rules made by her father and grandmother were impossible to follow. The hellbeasts were unwilling to cut Gizzell any slack, and were more than willing to hand out the most horrific punishments for nothing.
Later that day Gizzell wrote, “I failed.” I hate to think what more she was made to suffer.
On July 11, 2013, Gizzell wrote her very last entry in her journal. “I hate this life because now I’m in super big trouble.” On July 12 she was dead.
Paramedics were called to the filthy home, and discovered Gizell’s body in her father’s blood-spattered room. There were wounds on her body, and she’d been strangled.
Andre and Helen Ford were charged with the poor girl’s murder. Helen Ford had, of course, committed the abuse and the killing, but Andre Ford had directed the abuse.
In August 2014, while awaiting trial, Andre Ford died of a heart attack. Long may he rot in hell.
When Helen Ford went to trial in 2017, her defense was that she’d had “too much on her plate”, what with a bedridden son and 3 grandchildren to care for. And then there was the victim blaming. The defense made unsubstantiated claims that Gizzell had to be tied up because she had tried to stab her father and her little cousin. And incredibly, the defense asserted that many of Gizzell’s wounds were self-inflicted.
I don’t think the defense garnered much sympathy in the face of testimony by Gizzell’s 10-year-old half brother. He spoke about the punishment he himself had to endure at his grandmother’s hands. He talked of being beaten with a belt, and forced to do squats.
The boy also spoke about the abuse he’d seen Gizzell endure: how grandma had used a spatula to hit her in the mouth; how grandma would force her to eat hot peppers; how grandma would force her to stand in contorting positions for hours and hours; how grandma would stuff a sock in her mouth if she cried out in pain.
The boy cried when he described Gizzell. “”She was very nice,” he said. “She liked to make friends. She liked to play.”
On March 2, 2017, Helen Ford was convicted of murder. The murderous hellbitch faces life in prison. Long may she rot behind bars.
RIP, Gizzell Davis. I extend my condolences to those who knew and loved her. I hope and pray that her half-siblings are now in a happy, safe, loving environment so that they can grow up to be successful and content.
I have some thoughts about the failures of the court and DCFS, for indeed they did fail Gizzell. Why she was placed in the custody of her father and grandmother is beyond me. A single home visit to that filthy, disgusting home should have curtailed that, plus it should have gotten the other two children taken out of there. Somebody failed badly, and there was no rescue for Gizzell.
That said, it was Helen and Andre Ford who murdered that beautiful, smart girl. They hated her, and then they punished her to death. They both deserve undiluted hell.
