Crimes: Murder, Abuse

Christina “Nina” Harms of Kearns, Utah, died on March 25, 2011. She was only 22 years old. She hadn’t had the easiest life — she was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and had the mental capacity of an 8-year-old. Still she was capable of enjoying the good things in life and having fun and friends.

Christina Harms had needed taking care of, but tragically for the unfortunate woman her caregivers did anything but take care of her.

They tortured her to death.

Christina Harms lived at a home at 4978 S. 5415 West, Kearns. That’s also where she died.

Beckering HouseCassandra Shepard was Christina Harms’ legal guardian. Sherrie Beckering is Cassandra’s mother. Dale Beckering is Sherrie’s husband. These 3 hellbeasts were the monsters responsible for Christina Harms’ excruciating suffering and death.

The 3 “caregivers” lived in the house with their disabled victim. They also shared the home with Cassandra Shepard’s young children.

There was no escape possible for Christina Harms from her horrific situation. She was for most of the time kept in a small closet where she was forced to eat and relieve herself, and look at a picture of Jesus.

Christina Harms couldn’t get out of the closet by herself because for one thing she was bound crucifixion-style to a metal bar.

The closet had an alarm system too, and a knife was stuck in the door so Christina Harms couldn’t open it even if her hands were free.

She was a prisoner, literally, of her “caregivers”.

Christina HarmsConfining Christina Harms wasn’t sufficient entertainment for Cassandra Shepard and the Beckerings. Oh no, they just had to torture their captive too.

On March 25, 2011, police were called to the Beckerings’ home for a possible drug overdose. They found Christina Harms unconscious on the floor. She had bruises on her body, and bandages were wrapped tightly around her arms and fingers.

Christina Harms was soon after pronounced dead. That was the only avenue of escape for that unfortunate disabled woman.

An autopsy found the dead woman was severely dehydrated. She also had potentially fatal levels of Benadryl or something similar in her system.

Upon close examination, the medical examiner determined that Christina Harms had ligature marks on her ankles consistent with zip ties. She also had severe bruising on her head and her thigh.

Christina Harms had been bound and beaten. And there was more.

The arms and the hands were wrapped with bandages, but not for any wounds. No, the bandages had a far more diabolical and dreadful purpose. Somebody — likely Cassandra — had stuck a pepper seed under Christina’s eyelid, and the bandages prevented her from getting it out.

Can you imagine how painful that would be for the poor woman? As if the zip ties weren’t punishment enough! As if the binding to a metal pole wasn’t punishment enough! As if being locked in a small closet with her own excrement wasn’t punishment enough! As if being deprived of fluids wasn’t punishment enough!

The medical examiner determined that Christina Harms died of “positional asphyxiation” — a homicide.

Cassandra Shepard and Sherrie Beckering are vile, sadistic, evil hellbitches!

And Dale Beckering did f*ck-all to save the victim. He just turned a blind eye to the torture and carried on as if everything in his household was normal. And that makes him a coward or a hellbeast of the first order.

Sherrie and Dale Beckering were charged with 1st-degree felony intentional abuse of a disabled or elderly adult. They were also charged with domestic violence abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Cassandra Shepard was charged with 1st-degree felony murder, 1st-degree felony intentional abuse of a disabled or elderly adult, and 2nd-degree felony obstruction of justice.

Those all sound like serious charges that would carry serious penalties. And how did that pan out?

Dale BeckeringIn February, 2012, Dale Beckering, 51, was convicted of aggravated abuse of a vulnerable adult. That’s a 2nd-degree felony. He was sentenced to 1 to 15 years in prison.

The judge hadn’t believed his bullshit story that he had no idea what was happening in his house. Hell, even Cassandra Shepard’s 5-year-old knew what was going on!

In September, 2012, Sherrie Lynn Beckering, 51, was found guilty of aggravated abuse of a disabled adult. That’s a 1st-degree felony. In November the disgusting, monstrous hellbitch was sentenced to 5 years to life in prison.

Sherrie BeckeringThe judge didn’t buy her crap about being unaware of the abuse. Neither do I.

And that brings us to Cassandra Marie Shepard, 29, the legal guardian of the murdered woman.

On February 25, 2013, Cassandra Shepard pled guilty in 3rd District Court, Salt Lake City, to aggravated abuse of a vulnerable adult, a 1st-degree felony, and manslaughter, a 2nd-degree felony. She is scheduled to be sentenced on March 22.

As part of the plea deal, the prosecutors will ask that her sentences be served concurrently. How nice for her!

Cassandra Shepard could face 5 years to life for the abuse, and 1 to 15 years for the manslaughter.

Cassandra ShepardI wanna know who decides when these evil assholes get out. Five years to life is a very, very broad span of time. I’d much prefer the hellbitches spend their entire lives in prison rather than a piddly-ass 5 years! And I sure as hell don’t want to see Dale get out after just 1 year!

The 3 of them TOGETHER kept a helpless, disabled woman captive. They either participated in or endorsed the torture she was put through every hour of every day. They allowed young children to witness the abuse and made them keep quiet about it.

There are no redeeming qualities in any of them! They deserve the maximum lengths of their sentences, they deserve the fires of hell and Christina Harms deserves justice!

And Cassandra Shepard’s children deserve a good home with decent people to love them, care for them, and raise them well. I hope they get that now.

I shall keep readers posted about Cassandra the evil hellbitch Shepard’s sentencing in March.

RIP Christina Harms.

Cassandra Shepard was sentenced to consecutive terms of five years to life and one to 15 years in prison.

They should all have been sent away for murder. They killed her with cruelty.

  2. bulldoggy says:

The house is so small it makes the Bickerings claims of ignorance downright bull crap. They should be locked up in closets instead of cells amd forced to live in their own shit. Evil bastards. Who the hell gave them Christina anyway and why was nobody checking on her.

    • Kbob says:

Christina’s mother died from cancer, and Cassandra Shepard I believe is a cousin to Christina’s mother. When Christina’s mother passed she had a friend lined up to take her not Cassandra. I wish everyone could have met Nina (Christina).

    Cruel monsters, poor Christina

  4. bengalpuss says:

Thats just what i was thinking bulldoggy, why wasn.t anybody checking on this poor vulnerable woman, and who the hell let these hillbilly’s care for these mentally challenged woman. And why the fuck did they offer cassandra shephard a plea deal? That piece of shit didn.t give christina harms any kind of mercy, so why should she be given any in a plea deal, fucking ridiculous. As far as im concerned those three low lifes should be given life without parole, not stupid pathetic sentences, that just speaks volumes, you may as well say then thats its ok to treat another human being like crap, and you won.t be punished for it. And just look at them, ugly is an understatement with them three pigs, they were definately touched with the ugly wand. In fact they should have been charged with being fuck ugly as well.

Never heard of positional asphyxiation before so I Googled it. Restraint-related positional asphyxia is a deadly condition that can occur when a person being restrained cannot breathe properly. So probably it was because those bastards restrained her that she died. Sick, twisted dementos. They should be tortured every single day for the rest of their pathetic useless lives.

  6. MsM says:

Hmmm, weird. How did the legal guardian even land that position? I wonder if they were related somehow? Or, as happens a lot around here, Ms. Shepherd conned the victim into signing her checks over to her as rep payee so, basically, she controlled the woman’s money. Probably never even occurred to her that if she killed the victim there would be no more money. All three of these vile creatures need to be tortured in prison…

    • bengalpuss says:

Msm, exactly who let these fiends look after this woman. surely she should have had some sort of a support worker? but obviously not. This woman should never have slipped through the net, she should have been monitored, but instead ended up with these three beastly bastards, they should be given no mercy.

      • MsM says:

Welcome to the United States – our mental health system is horribly broken. Anybody can be a mentally challenged person’s rep payee as long as the person signs the waiver. Those people obviously should have never been allowed to be anywhere near that girl. I think that, perhaps, she needed a place to live and the ‘guardian’ knew her somehow and offered to let her move in there thinking she could steal her monthly SSI. Sadly that’s not the first case where something like that has happened. Our system needs so much work but nobody seems willing to do the work to protect people like the victim!

        • bengalpuss says:

Msm, how many more mentally challenged people have to die, because someone can.t be bothered to represent these people, like you said, that woman shouldn’t have been allowed to anywhere near that girl. It was obvious that she was mentally challenged therefore those three bastards manipulated the situation to suit Their own purpose. It’ll be interesting to see what sentences the beasts get, won.t hold my breath though for anything decent.

  7. MsM says:

It’s Utah so it’s anybody’s guess how they’ll be sentenced. Sadly, this is another perfect example of why state hospitals need to be reinstated. The victim would still be alive if she’d actually had some place to go. And before somebody jumps all over me regarding mental institutions, the reality is that over half of the “disorders” that people were committed for decades ago no longer exist as disorders. With the DSM V a very limited amount of mentally challenged people would meet the criteria for committal and patients like the victim – who was not seriously mentally ill but mentally challenged – would have funding to live in assisted living facilities and receive their patient care through the mental hospital. If properly funded, equipped and with properly trained personnel these types of facilities can function properly. We actually had a very long discussion regarding this very topic last night in class. It’s obvious what needs to be done but we lack the willing manpower – not to mention the funding – to reinstate mental hospitals on the proper scale that they need to be.

Okay for torturing, confining and murdering a handicapped woman these assholes get the chance to get out? How is that fair? How is that justice? They should ALL be left to rot and moulder in tiny windowless prison cells for the rest of their pathetic lives. I just hope the kids turn out okay after witnessing such sadism and cruelty at the hands of their own mother and grandparents. Where were their dads? Why were they left with the evil witch?

  9. Twisted Kitten says:

I do not understand how such light sentences can be given for torture and murder! Nevermind the fact that we are talking about a person who was special needs. I work in the mental health field as a care provider, and it’s beyond my comprehension to believe that people could be so heartless and cruel. However, with that being said… I do see cases of abuse when an individual lives at home or with “caregivers” in the community. I know in my state every time an investigation happens they typically believe the disgusting lie that the individual does it to themself. I hope these 3 disgusting excuses of skin and bones get the karma they deserve while that beautiful Ms. Christina watches from Heaven. RIP Angel

  10. Twisted.Kitten says:

I do not understand how their sentences can be so light in comparison that they tortured and murdered another human being, especially one that was reliant on their care. I work in the mental health field as a caregiver, and I am appalled that the system continues to fail the people who need us most. Unfortunately I have had to report incidents of suspected abuse, and typically the state believes the lie that individuals cause the bruises or wounds themself. I can oly hope these 3 disgusting wastes of skin and bones get the karma they so deserve, as beautiful Christina watches from heaven.

I wish they could give Sherrie extra time for creating Cassandra. I think it’s a lot more likely that Sherrie molded her daughter one way or another into a sadistic hellbeast than that Cassandra turned out that way all on her own and her mother just nodded and accepted it. Sherrie either warped Cassandra’s mind through similar kinds of abuse or she actively encouraged her daughter along paths of cruelty and evil. This doesn’t diminish Cassandra’s culpability to my way of thinking, unless she happens to be mentally disabled, but it does increase Sherrie’s guilt.
