Ronald Fraser Golden
Crimes: Animal Abuse, Cruelty
Ronald Fraser Golden, 48, of 106 Bullington Road, Athens, Alabama, is in deep doo-doo. He has been charged with 22 counts of 1st-degree cruelty to cats. He has yet to go to trial but he’s been confessing and admitting a whole lot to authorities.
The police investigation into Ronald Fraser Golden’s anti-kitty activities began on September 24, 2013. Athens police received a tip about dead (yes, dead) kittens found in and around Bullington Road. They also received a tip that the kitty killer was Ronald Fraser Golden.
Following up on these tips, Athens police officers Lt. Chris Slaton and Sgt. Johnny Campbell interviewed Ronald Fraser Golden on September 30, 2013. The asshole actually admitted to buying little kittens off Craigslist just so he could kill them.
Ronald Fraser Golden explained to the officers that he was “angry at the world” and since July 2013 he has been acquiring kittens to kill.
Lt. Chris Slaton and Sgt. Johnny Campbell got Ronald Fraser Golden’s permission to search his property. They found 5 kitty carcasses in the bushes at the back of his yard.
The officers also found 2 dogs and 2 kittens alive on his property. Apparently the dogs were not in danger — I guess Ronald Fraser Golden only hates cats.
In talking with the kitty killer, Lt. Chris Slaton and Sgt. Johnny Campbell learned that Ronald Fraser Golden had what he called a “cat room”. This was where the poor, wee beasties met their horrific and torturous deaths.
In the “cat room” the officers found blood spattered on the walls and on the floor.
Ronald Fraser Golden had admitted to the officers that sometimes he threw kittens against the floor to break their necks, sometimes he stomped them to death, and sometimes he wrung their necks.
Twenty-two kittens in total were tortured and killed.
Ronald Fraser Golden was taken into custody for evaluation by a state mental health officer. He was released on October 10, 2013. On that very day police charged the vicious, vile animal killer with 22 counts of animal cruelty. Those are Class C felonies, and each is punishable by a year and a day to 10 years in prison.
Ronald Fraser Golden is currently sitting in the Limestone County Jail. His bond is $22,000.
The people who sold some of their kittens to Ronald Fraser Golden were shocked by the revelations. They’d thought he was such a quiet, nice man.
Evil comes in many guises.
The rescued kitties, Melvin and Mia, have since been put up for adoption. I hope they find good homes. I haven’t found anything about the 2 dogs.
I shall keep readers posted (reminders are always welcome). You all should know I am hoping he is found guilty and gets the max on each count, to be served consecutively.
A man who is so “angry at the world” may not stop at torturing and killing cats. If he isn’t stopped or treated he just might graduate to committing even worse crimes. Ronald Fraser Golden has been on a very scary trajectory. I truly hope that the Alabama courts will succeed in stopping him from hurting, torturing and killing ever again.
